Sunderland are the latest club to be linked with Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov. The 31-year-old is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford with the arrival of Robin van Persie and according to The People, Black Cats’ boss Martin O’Neill has already been in contact with United over a move for the Bulgarian.
United want around £5million for Berbatov who is unlikely to pick up
much playing time following Robin van Persie’s arrival, and his
£110,000-a-week wages make good sense for United to sell him.
Zenit St Petersburg have also been linked with
Berbatov but it is believed that his wage demands have deterred the
Russian champions from taking their interest any further.
