- The Daily Mirror believes Neil Taylor is a target for United as left-back cover for Patrice Evra. The Swansea defender appeared in the Olympics for Great Britain.
- Fernando Llorente is said to be the subject of a £30million transfer scrap between United and City, according to the Daily Express. Juventus are believed to be favourites to sign the Spaniard for a lower sum than that figure as he only has a year left on his contract, although both Manchester clubs are long rumoured to be admirers.
- The Daily Mail understands that Danny Welbeck
is set to sign a five-year contract after being in negotiations over
fresh terms for some time. One striker who has penned a deal is young
Irishman Sam Byrne, the club revealed this morning.
- There is plenty of transfer talk surrounding United around again this morning after a slight lull recently. The Mirror says Sir Alex has made a personal plea to Arsene Wenger to resolve the Robin van Persie situation while The Sun reckons Arsenal are "caving in" and allowing their captain to join United for £22million.
