Gyliano van Velzen and Luke Giverin On Loan
Gyliano van Velzen and Luke Giverin have been registered as Royal Antwerp players after loan moves until 2 January 2013 were finalised on Friday morning. We wish the youngsters plenty of luck for their stint in Belgium.
LOevente want to Sign Kiko on Loan
Levante are also showing an interest in signing Federico Macheda on loan, Sir Alex is said to only be entertaining a temporary move for a player he rates highly.
Sir Alex hints at Berba twist
Sir Alex Ferguson has wished Dimitar Berbatov well - but does not think the Bulgarian is certain to join Fulham yet.
The striker has undergone a medical with Martin Jol's side and will depart Old Trafford before the deadline but there could be yet another twist regarding his future after he had initially seemed set to join Fiorentina or Juventus.
"Dimitar was always going to be going," admitted the boss. "I said last year he'd be leaving at the end of the season. He's not gone yet, though. I don't know anything about it.
"There has not been any contact from him. We thought he was in Italy, but it turned out he isn't. He could be anywhere. I really mean that.
"I wouldn't be surprised if he's at Tottenham. There are rumours going around. I do not think it's settled at Fulham, put it that way.
"He's a very talented player and his contribution is good, particularly in home games. He's the only player to score a hat-trick against Liverpool for United [in a very long time].
"When we changed our game, it didn't suit him. We started to play with more speed and teams were getting organised very quickly against us. Therefore, we had to change the way we wanted to play and it didn't suit Dimitar but he's a very talented player. Wherever he goes, he'll do well."
There is unlikely to be any other activity around Old Trafford before the deadline on Friday night although a couple of loan exits are still in the pipeline for next week.

Sir Alex's Euro warning
Sir Alex Ferguson has warned United not to make any "stupid
errors" in the Champions League after being pitted against Braga,
Galatasaray and CFR Cluj.
The Reds boss has pledged to field his strongest side in order to qualify for the knockout stages and is relishing a reunion with Galatasaray after facing the Turkish team in 1993 and 1994.
"We have the experience of playing against Galatasaray in the past and we will always remember the 'Welcome to Hell' banners," he told ManUtd.com. "So it's always a difficult type of match.
"We have drawn Portuguese clubs a number of times over the past few years - the likes of Benfica, Sporting [Lisbon] and Porto - so we have the experience of playing in Portugal on many occasions. Braga are one of the improving teams in that country.
"Obviously, we've never played Cluj before but, after the experience of last year, we don't want to make any stupid errors this time. We will play our strongest team to make sure we get through."

Boss explains Rooney omission
Sir Alex Ferguson has explained why Wayne Rooney was left out of the Manchester United side for the win against Fulham.
Last season's top scorer for the Reds eventually came off the bench to play his part in the victory, but he suffered a bad gash to his thigh moments from the end and will be sidelined for around four weeks as a result.
Media debate on the striker's future followed his omission, but the speculation was soon rubbished by Wayne himself and then, on Thursday night, by United chief executive David Gill. The manager, meanwhile, says his decision to name Rooney as a substitute was purely down to his fitness levels.
"Rooney wasn't as fit [as the other players]," Sir Alex asserted. "Wayne's said that himself. He needs a few games.
"I wanted to play Robin van Persie at Old Trafford, although I knew he wasn't 100 per cent fit either. It was only because we lost the second goal that I was forced to leave Robin on. I'd have rather taken him off with 20 minutes to go.
"I couldn't have started both of them and I wanted to start van Persie for his first game at Old Trafford. Wayne's a bit behind the other players in terms of fitness. He's not as advanced as Shinji Kagawa or the other midfield players, for example.
"It wasn't an easy choice because I had to leave out a very good player and a player who can score you goals. His goalscoring is getting better all the time. So that's not an easy decision, but it was done."
Chief executive Gill was asked about Rooney's future while in Monaco for the Champions League draw.
"He's definitely not for sale," Gill responded. "He didn't start in one game on Saturday for various reasons. Sir Alex picks the team and that's it. Whenever he's not played, people try to drum up stories.
"I can categorically say there has been no discussion whatsoever. He's on a long-term contract with us. He's very integral to our team going forward. He's a great player, got a bad injury but will come back without a shadow of a doubt. He was angry about the story, quite rightly."

Young out of Sunday's clash
Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled Ashley Young out of Sunday's trip
to Southampton but Jonny Evans' return should allow Michael Carrick to
move back into midfield.
Young picked up a knock to his knee last weekend and was left out of England's squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers as a result. The boss has also insisted Wayne Rooney will only be out for four weeks despite press speculation he could be missing for twice that length of time after picking up a nasty-looking injury against Fulham.
"In terms of injuries, it was nice of the FA to let everyone know Ashley Young is injured," said Sir Alex. "He's out after the injury last week. It's not serious.
"Centre-back is our main concern at the moment. Jonny Evans played on Wednesday [against Tottenham at Under-21 level] and came through fine. He's the strongest option we've got.
"Phil Jones has done some training but isn't ready yet. Rio Ferdinand's in the same boat. At least we have one centre-back available, which is an improvement. It allows us to put Michael Carrick back in midfield.
"Wayne's out for four weeks. It's nothing serious on the actual gash - it's a bad one but it was treated carefully very quickly. We don't expect any complications from it. I think he'll be back in four weeks. The fact it's a gash and not a muscle or joint injury means he can do a lot of work in the gymnasium. We're not too bad with that."

Büttner praised after U21 debut
Jonny Evans and Warren Joyce were both impressed with
Alexander Büttner's Manchester United debut in the Under-21s on
Wednesday night.
The recent acquisition from Vitesse Arnhem acquitted himself well during the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur and is likely to provide cover and, ultimately, competition for Patrice Evra at left-back.
"He's been training all week with us and have been very impressive," revealed Evans to MUTV. "He looks comfortable on the ball and is good in the tackle.
"He probably didn't get as much of the ball as he would have liked but he defended really well which was important so I'm sure he can be happy with himself."
Under-21s coach Joyce feels Büttner will only improve with more game-time at United.
"It's a good start for the boy," Joyce stressed. "He's not had a lot of football games and his pre-season has been a bit mixed up really as he was a little unsettled. So it's good for him to get a game under his belt and he started well. He'll only improve with more games and more fitness."

Evans ready to return
Jonny Evans hopes to return to first-team action at Southampton in order to ease Manchester United's defensive headache.
The Northern Ireland international was an unused substitute against Fulham but made his comeback from an ankle operation in the Under-21s' 2-1 triumph against Tottenham at Moss Lane on Wednesday.
Warren Joyce was able to give Evans a full match in order to step up his fitness and the centre-back looked his usual assured self to provide a welcome boost with Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones and Chris Smalling all currently sidelined.
"It's important for me to get that run-out," Evans told MUTV. "I was only going to play 60 minutes but ended up playing the full game as Warren let me know before the game. I'm glad I've got 90 minutes under my belt.
"I'd never really experienced missing pre-season before. People always say it's important to get a good pre-season under your belt and, if you miss it, it affects your season so I've been trying as hard as I can with the fitness work and a lot of work behind the scenes.
"It was important for me to get this game and instead of only playing 60 minutes, 90 minutes gives me a full game behind me and hopefully I'll be in contention for Sunday.
"I felt pretty good. I've had a few setbacks over the pre-season where it's not gone as planned but, hopefully, everything is now behind me and I can kick on with the season."
Under-21s coach Joyce was pleased with Evans' contribution to a second win of the new campaign for
his team.
"It's great to see him back and he's come through unscathed," Joyce told MUTV. "He's done it properly and got tackles and headers in, moved the ball around and looked good."
Evans must be a candidate to partner skipper Nemanja Vidic at St Mary's, which would enable Michael Carrick to move forward to a more familiar midfield role.

Welbeck back in England squad
United have three representatives in Roy Hodgson's latest England squad with Danny Welbeck recalled to the fray.
The young striker should get the chance to impress again at international level with team-mate Wayne Rooney ruled out following the injury he sustained against Fulham on Saturday.
Midfield duo Michael Carrick and Tom Cleverley, who performed well against Italy in the recent friendly, are also included but there is no place for winger Ashley Young after he picked up a knock at the weekend.
England take on Moldova and Ukraine, who were opponents for Hodgson's side during the Euro 2012 finals, on the World Cup road to Brazil in 2014.

United ‘Preparing Rooney Transfer’
Wayne Rooney fears he could be sold by Manchester United for £40million – that’s the bizarre story doing the rounds this morning, the latest episode of which comes from the Daily Mirror.
The paper claims that Rooney fears United are ready to sell him and that this is largely put down to what it describes as the “virtual disintegration” of Rooney’s relationship with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
Rooney was only named as a substitute for United’s 3-2 win over Fulham on Saturday and although he came on midway through the second half he had to go off with a leg injury and will be out for a month.
The Mirror adds that Sir Alex feels Rooney’s commitment and performances do not justify the wage of over £200,000 a week he receives from the club. Rooney famously asked for a transfer in the autumn of 2010 and looked set to leave for United’s local rivals Manchester City in a £50million deal until Sir Alex pulled out the stops and persuaded him to sign a new deal with the club which guarantees he will be its highest earner.
United now have Robin van Persie, Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez to choose from as strikers as well as Rooney along with young Chilean Angelo Henriquez who arrived last week and who is expected to see some first-team football this season, most likely in the Capital One Cup.
However, the paper kicks the Rooney story into the long grass by suggesting that while United are ‘preparing the ground’ for a sale, any transfer will not take place until the summer.

Markel Susaeta was Near To Sign for United
Markel Susaeta has signed a new four-year deal at Athletic Club - but only after rejecting overtures from United, according to As.
Sir Alex was said to be impressed by the winger's appearances for
Bilbao in the Europa League and made an offer - as did another top
Barclays Premier League club.
Papers: Rio return delayed?
Rio's return delayedRio Ferdinand has been ruled
out until after the international break as Manchester United's central
defensive crisis continues. Sir Alex Ferguson had raised hopes that the
33-year-old would be back for Sunday's trip to Southampton. But it is
understood the earliest he will return now is United's meeting with
Wigan Athletic at Old Trafford on 15 September. Ferdinand is suffering a
groin injury that has caused him to miss United's opening two games of
the season. While Jonny Evans did return to the bench for Saturday's 3-2
win over Fulham at Old Trafford and may be ready to partner Nemanja
Vidic at St Mary's, Ferdinand is joined by Chris Smalling, who has a
foot injury, and Phil Jones – a back problem – to make three of
Ferguson's first-choice central defenders unavailable.
Under-21s set for Spurs
United start the home campaign at Barclays Under-21 Premier League level with Wednesday night's fixture against Tottenham.
Warren Joyce's side will look to follow up the success on the road against Stoke City after the Under-18s won their clash with Spurs on Saturday.
"Spurs Under-21s lost their first game 6-4 to Newcastle but we don't know them too well so it's going a little bit into the unknown for us," Joyce told ManUtd.com. "I don't think we've really played against Tottenham before at Reserves level. Not that I can recall over the last few years anyway."
Darren Fletcher captained the youngsters to the opening-day win against the Potters and his professional attitude shone through again as he continues to bid for a return to the first team.
"It was great for 'Fletch' and I thought he did really well in the game," added Joyce. "He did his job and Stoke's older players were in the areas of the field he was operating in so it must've been great for him to come through 90 minutes like that.
"He's a good example for everybody because he treats the games as if they are first-team matches."

Manchester United's Jonny Evans named in Northern Ireland squad
Jonny Evans has been passed fit for Michael O'Neill's first two competitive matches in charge of Northern Ireland.
The Manchester United defender had ankle surgery at the end of last season and has not played so far this term, although he did make the bench for United's win over Fulham.
Evans's appearance record for his country is patchy, but he is integral to O'Neill's hopes of qualifying for the World Cup, and has been named in the 23-man squad that takes on Russia on 7 September and Luxembourg four days later at Windsor Park.
O'Neill has been in charge of three friendly matches since taking over from Nigel Worthington and, although he has yet to win, there were encouraging signs in the 3-3 draw against Finland.
He ran the rule over a host of players in defeats to Norway and Holland, and has now settled on his first competitive squad.
One notable absentee is the country's record scorer, David Healy. The much-travelled striker was not involved in the Finland match either, but has since signed for Bury and scored from the penalty spot on his debut.
The Sion forward Kyle Lafferty remains first-choice up front, and he is joined by Walsall's Will Grigg, Burnley's Martin Paterson, who scored his maiden international goal against the Finns, and the Rangers duo Dean Shiels and Andy Little.
Both Shiels and Little will have to prove they are capable of balancing life in the bottom tier of Scottish football with a World Cup qualifying campaign, but O'Neill has vowed to give them every chance to do so.

Man Utd keeper Amos pleased with form at Hull
Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Amos is enjoying his loan spell at Hull City.
Amos kept a cleansheet in their 0-0 draw with Charlton Athletic.
He told the Hull Daily Mail afterwards: "I feel great and I feel as though I’m growing with each game. If I was to compare myself in pre-season to now, I see a big difference.
"That will keep going and my decision-making will improve, but I’m really enjoying the challenge of playing regular first-team football in a division as strong as the Championship."

Man Utd striker Chicharito proud of Mexico over gold medal triumph
Manchester United star Javier Hernandez was proud of Mexico over their gold medal triumph at the London Olympics.
Chicharito says he was proud to see his countrymen win the football final.
He told man utd.com: "Oh yes, it was a great moment and a very big achievement for our country. It was the only gold medal we won at the London Olympics and everyone in our country felt very proud. I don’t think anyone really believed we would get to the final and then beat Brazil but against all the odds we did it.
"The players and Mexican people have dreamt of that moment and to achieve it was fantastic. It’s shown us all that anything is possible."

Berbatov deal scuppered?
Rooney injury could wreck Berbatov dealManchester
United will assess the extent of Wayne Rooney's injury before allowing
Dimitar Berbatov to leave for Fiorentina. The Italian club are confident
that a £5m offer for the 31-year-old striker will be accepted, although
should Rooney's injury keep him out for longer than the four weeks
predicted by his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, it will hinder the deal.
The gash in the striker's thigh, caused by a collision with Fulham's
Hugo Rodallega on Saturday, was so serious that Rooney had to be
stitched under general anaesthetic and, if there has been muscle damage,
Ferguson's prognosis may have to be doubled. Nevertheless, after
offering Berbatov a two-year package worth £3.2m, Fiorentina are
confident that the Bulgarian will leave Old Trafford. In contrast to
Michael Owen, who appeared happy enough with League Cup football,
Berbatov does not want to stay at the club if he barely plays. Even with
Rooney on the sidelines, he would still be only United's fourth-choice
forward and keeping him to the final year of his contract would cost the
club around £4m in wages.
Cleverley backed by Carrick
Michael Carrick is convinced Tom Cleverley will shine if he can get a consistent run in the United side. The
young midfielder started last term in eye-catching fashion before an
injury at Bolton Wanderers disrupted his progress and he has performed
well against both Everton and Fulham.
Carrick, who has watched on from centre-back in the opening two fixtures, feels Cleverley is learning all the time and can make a valuable contribution throughout the season.
"He’s got the talent and the ability," Carrick told ManUtd.com. "We’ve all seen that.
"He’s comfortable playing and dealing with the pressures that come with playing for the club in each game we play. There is no danger about that.
"It’s just about keeping the standards high – we set the standards and the hard part is keeping to that standard consistently. There is no magic ingredient for that. It’s just about learning and getting experience and the more games he plays, the better he’ll play.
"He’s a very intelligent and clever footballer," added Carrick. "It’s a shame the way his season panned out last year because he started so well.
"He’s got a lot to bring [to midfield], as we all do. That’s one of the good things about our midfielders, we all bring different things when called upon which gives the manager different options which is vital given how many games we’re hoping to play this season."

Chicharito To Learn with RVP
Javier Hernandez talks to ManUtd.com about learning from
Robin van Persie and the team’s determination to make amends for last
season’s Champions League disappointment…
Fans will Love Buttner
Alexander Büttner has the wherewithal to become a fans'
favourite at Manchester United, according to former Reds goalkeeper
Raimond van der Gouw.
The 49-year-old goalkeeping coach worked with the left-back at Vitesse Arnhem until earlier this week, when the defender completed his move to Old Trafford.
"If he can play plenty of games then people will love him because he gives absolutely everything," van der Gouw told ManUtd.com. "Don't worry about that; he'll never let you down.
"He's scored a few goals, but that's because he started out as a left midfielder. He only became a left-back in the last couple of years, but he made such big progress that it became his position.
"He still likes to go forward and try to score. He has a powerful kick, a very good left foot and he puts in some good crosses, too. He has a lot of energy and he's good for team spirit."
Van der Gouw made 60 appearances in six seasons with United, and passed his experience onto his young compatriot, who is champing at the bit to make his mark at Old Trafford.
"He's so excited about joining United," said Raimond. "Having got the chance, he really wants to go for it. He was very impressed with what he saw of Old Trafford when he went to sign, even though it was empty. I know the feeling.
"I told him he was very lucky to be arriving at a club like United, because it's a totally different world to any other club, and I told him to take the chance with both hands. I really hope he does."

Wayne Rooney Out for Two Months
Wayne Rooney is facing up to two months on the
sidelines at Manchester United after undergoing surgery to repair a
six-inch wound which cut as deep as his thigh bone. Rooney, whose right
thigh was sliced open by the studs of Fulham forward Hugo Rodallega in a
freak collision during Saturday’s Old Trafford fixture, was forced to
go under general anaesthetic prior to surgery, which included the
stitching of the wound, due to the severity of the injury. The player
then spent the night under observation in hospital before being
discharged on Sunday morning to recover at home. But the initial fears
of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson that the 26 year-old would be out
for a month as a result of the gash now appear hugely optimistic with
medical staff shocked by the extent of the cut. Ferguson insisted,
following the Fulham game, that Rodallega could not be blamed for the
injury, but the damage caused by the player’s studs has caused surprise
and concern. Rooney, who will miss England’s World Cup qualifiers
against Moldova and Ukraine next month and the start of United’s
Champions League campaign, now faces an anxious wait over his likely
recovery period.

Angelo Henriquez To United Official
Angelo Henriquez is due in Manchester this
weekend to finalise his move to United. Sir Alex said at the press
conference: "Henriquez had to go back to Chile but he's on his way to
us. He first came over when he was 15 or 16. We kept in close contact
with him. When he got to 18, it was a matter of whether or not we left
him for another year or decided to get him. But he had such a good
summer that we decided to bring him in."
On tomorrow's match
Sir Alex said: "I went to see Fulham [beat Norwich 5-0]
on Saturday. They played very well. They have a lot of experience in
their team with six players over 30. But we're at home and we need to
make an impact quickly after Monday's game."
Büttner's shirt no. confirmed
Alexander Büttner will wear the number 28 shirt for
Manchester United after completing his move to Old Trafford earlier this
week.
The 23-year-old defender was unveiled to the media at Carrington this morning (Friday). Büttner said: "I feel good. It's a dream to play for United. I know I can learn so much from the players here and I can't wait to play with them. It's a nice club and everyone has helped me settle in. I feel really pleased to be here."
Sir Alex said of his fourth summer signing: "We’ve been monitoring Alex for a while. He’s a straightforward, attacking, quick full-back who will be a terrific addition to our squad.
"Patrice Evra has played an average of 48 games a season for the last five years, an incredible statistic. He's still a fit lad but he is in his 30s now and Alex gives us good back-up. He will provide Patrice with a good challenge."

Reds still short of centre-backs
Sir Alex Ferguson admits the Reds are still beset by injury
problems at the heart of the defence although Phil Jones is back in
training.
United are planning to hand a home debut to Robin van Persie against Fulham but the main focus is on the centre-back position with Jonny Evans still not ready to return leaving Patrice Evra as a contender to move inside if new signing Alexander Buttner is included.
"I need to call Bruce and Pallister!," joked the boss, who fielded Michael Carrick alongside Nemanja Vidic at Goodison Park.
"Phil Jones started training yesterday but tomorrow is too soon for him. Robin has had a few days training since Monday. It's a home game and there's every chance he could get a start.
"It's pretty much the same as Monday night injury-wise. Alex will be involved tomorrow because he gives that back-up. Evra could actually play centre-back. He has done in the past. But I don't think Alex will start tomorrow, I think he'll be on the bench."
The manager is fully aware of the need to bounce back from the defeat at Everton but appreciates the Cottagers will provide a tough test.
"I went to see Fulham last Saturday and they played very well," he added. "They have a lot of experience in their team with six players over 30. We're at home and we need to make an impact quickly after Monday's game."

Papers: Reds go Latin
Ferguson plans to strike goldArsene Wenger has
always used the French connection, Rafa Benitez relied heavily on his
Spanish sources at Liverpool but Sir Alex Ferguson is increasingly
tapping into the Latin America market. After gaining a work permit for
Chile striker Angelo Henriquez, Manchester United are interested in one
of Mexico’s Olympic gold-medal winners, midfielder Hector Herrera.
United signed Mexican Javier Hernandez from Chivas Guadalajara two years
ago and they also have Ecuador winger Antonio Valencia and three
Brazilians on the books: the Da Silva twins, Rafael and Fabio, and
Anderson. It would have been four had Ferguson not been gazumped by
Qatari-backed Paris St-Germain for Lucas Moura. Several years ago United
appointed a scout to keep an eye on emerging talent in South and
Central America, realising the region had highly talented but relatively
cheap young players. Herrera was on United’s radar when he was voted
best player in this summer’s Toulon Under-21 tournament. Mexico won that
competition before becoming Olympic champions.

Vidic: We won't panic
Nemanja Vidic insists there is no need to push the panic
button after United suffered an opening day defeat for the first time in
eight years away at Everton on Monday night.
Marouane Fellaini's second half header from Darron Gibson's corner was the difference between the two sides, although it's fair to say the Reds had David De Gea to thank for keeping the Toffees at bay up until half-time.
Despite an impressive debut from Shinji Kagawa and the introduction of fellow new signing Robin van Persie, United lacked a cutting edge in the final third and struggled to get in behind a dogged Everton defence.
Vidic says the players are understandably disappointed with the outcome and must be more clinical in front of goal in their next outing at home to Fulham on Saturday.
"We knew it would be a hard game," he told MUTV afterwards. "They did what they're best at - playing long balls and focusing on set-pieces. They had a few chances and in the end deserved to score, but we're never happy when we concede from a set-piece.
"We had some possession but we weren't clinical. When you go away from home you expect the home side to have some chances, but we need to be more clinical.
"It wasn't a great game but we're already looking forward to the next one. We've lost our first match [of the season] in the past and finished well so hopefully we can win our next game and go on a long run."

Manchester United to Sign Herrera This Weekend
Manchester United are to complete the signing of Mexican
international Hector Herrera by this weekend, according to reports in
Italy.
Permanent deal for Kaka to Man United?
Manchester United are being linked with a loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka but the Spanish champions are unwilling to sanction anything other than a permanent move.
The 30-year-old has been told he can leave the Bernabeu just three years into a six-year deal following a 58million euro move from Milan in 2009, but reports from Italy yesterday claimed that Milan have given up on the prospect of bringing Kaka back to Serie A. A number of papers are reporting today that United have made an enquiry about a season-long loan.
Kaka is one of the highest-paid players in Europe with a wage of around 10million euro a year– that’s £150,000 a week. He indicated earlier this summer that he would be willing to take a pay cut to around 6million euro a year – still £90,000 a week. But any enquiry from United is likely to meet with the same response that Milan ran up against when they made a similar enquiry – that Kaka will not leave the Bernabeu on loan.
Milan have been talking to Real about the outright purchase of Kaka but are only willing to pay a maximum of around 15million euro (less than £12million) – little more than a quarter of the sum they received three years ago. Real have a price tag of 20million euro for Kaka and they won’t budge from that. Any enquiry from United is likely to receive the same response and as such the deal is no-goer for United.
Kaka was linked earlier this summer with Paris Saint-Germain and has also been offered a lucrative deal by MLS side LA Galaxy. But the quality of football in the MLS is of an insufficient standard for Kaka to fulfil his dream of playing for Brazil in the 2014 World Cup Finals to be held in his homeland. While he would likely jump at the chance of a move to Old Trafford there are too many barriers to the successful conclusion of any deal.

EXCLUSIVE: Full Interview of Alexander Buttner to United
Alexander Buttner has been interviewed ahead of a flight in to Manchester. The Vitesse Arnhem defender is quoted as saying on skysports.com: "If
a week ago, you told me that together with Robin van Persie I would be
playing at Manchester United, I would have driven you straight to the
mad house. One month ago, Manchester United sent an email expressing
their interest, but in the last four days it became concrete. I have not
spoken yet with Sir Alex Ferguson, but if all goes well that will
happen."

’One More Deal’ Says Sir Alex
Manchester United could be back in the transfer market again this month after Sir Alex Ferguson revealed there was still one purchase he was looking to make.
United have been linked with Everton left-back Leighton Baines since the beginning of June but have so far refused to pay anywhere near the Toffees’ asking price. With time running out before the transfer window closes on 31 August, Sir Alex has admitted that he has pushed the boat out so far with a spend of over £40million but he is confident there is more money still left in the Old Trafford transfer kitty.
“There is only one position in particular we are looking at,” Sir Alex said in what is believed to be a reference to the left-back slot. “We’ve splashed out quite a bit of money this summer but I’m sure if I went to the Glazers, they’d say ”yes”.’
Meanwhile, the Mail On Sunday claims Sir Alex will retire at the end of the 2013-14 season. The paper claims that after lining up the pairing of the Premier League’s two top scorers last season in Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie.
“Alex will only be manager for a couple more years so it was time the owners gave him what he wanted. That’s Van Persie,” someone described as ‘a source’ has told the newspaper. It claims that the 70-year-old will give the new partnership two years to bed in before handing over the reins.

United Linked with Max Clayton
Manchester United and Manchester City look set to do battle for Crewe Alexandra teenager Max Clayton.
United have trumped their neighbours by landing both Robin van Persie and Angelo Henriquez this summer and wanted Clayton as part of the deal which took Nick Powell to Old Trafford. However, United agreed to delay the move for Clayton but the People claims City look set to offer up to £5million for the 18-year-old striker.
Clayton, who only turned 18 last week, scored five goals in 30 games for Crewe last season and has caps for England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-18 level.

Sunderland link with Berbatov
Sunderland are the latest club to be linked with Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov. The 31-year-old is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford with the arrival of Robin van Persie and according to The People, Black Cats’ boss Martin O’Neill has already been in contact with United over a move for the Bulgarian.
United want around £5million for Berbatov who is unlikely to pick up much playing time following Robin van Persie’s arrival, and his £110,000-a-week wages make good sense for United to sell him.
Zenit St Petersburg have also been linked with Berbatov but it is believed that his wage demands have deterred the Russian champions from taking their interest any further.

Baines to Man United?
ESPN reckons Sir Alex is considering making a beat-the-deadline move for Leighton Baines
because he is still seeking left-back cover. The defender will line up
against the Reds for Everton on Monday. It's claimed the boss made a
hint about another signing at the press conference but it was to MUTV - he actually denied there would be any more arrivals in front of the media.

RVP Full article on His move to United
Manchester United have completed the signing of Robin van Persie from Arsenal.
The 29-year-old Dutchman has completed his medical, agreed personal
terms and signed for United on a four-year contract until the end of
June 2016.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told the club’s official website: “Robin is a world-class striker with a proven record in England and in European football. His talents need no introduction to our fans – he has scored a number of goals against us in some classic battles with his former club. His movement, finishing and all-round ability are outstanding.”
Van Persie said: “It’s an honour to sign for Manchester United. I am looking forward to following in the footsteps of so many great strikers, bringing my experience and playing my part to help the team compete for the biggest trophies in the game. I can’t wait to get started.”
No fee has been disclosed although reports have claimed that United will pay Arsenal around £24million. Van Persie’s salary is estimated at around £200,000 a week – £10million a year.
United’s announcement brings to an end the van Persie transfer saga which began late last year. The Arsenal skipper was under contract until June 2013 but it was revealed that he had refused to speak to the Gunners about a new deal until the end of the season. A brief meeting was held in May but despite the offer from Arsenal of a deal worth £130,000 a week van Persie issued a statement in July in which he said he would not be signing a new deal with Arsenal.
Manchester City and Juventus were both strongly linked with bids for the striker but the Dutchman has rejected overtures from both clubs in favour of a move to United.

EXCLUSIVE: Harry Redknapp Interview on RVP
Harry Redknapp has offered his views on the Robin van Persie deal to Radio 5Live.
The former Spurs boss says he spoke to Sir Alex and the boss worked
hard on the transfer because he didn't want to lose out like he had on
Samir Nasri last year. Redknapp says the Reds chief shook hands on a
deal with the Frenchman, only for the then Arsenal star to join
Manchester City instead.
The RVP effect
What will RVP mean for Manchester United
On the face of it, the prospect of Wayne Rooney playing in tandem with last season’s Premier League top goalscorer and the double Footballer of the Year is mouth-watering. Rooney and Van Persie could form as formidable a partnership as Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole, a combination crucial to United’s Treble success in 1999. Similarly, Rooney and Van Persie possess the potential to provide United with the two-man strike-force that enabled United to win the Champions League in 2008. But the potential flip side to Sir Alex Ferguson’s plan would involve Van Persie failing to dovetail with Rooney, who has rarely looked at ease alongside his previous strike partners. Alongside Ronaldo, Rooney sacrificed his attacking instincts to help the Portuguese forward flourish. But, having claimed centre stage at United since Ronaldo left for Real Madrid in 2009, the 26 year-old is unlikely to be willing to play second fiddle again. Rooney rarely looked happy alongside Ruud van Nistelrooy and, although Rooney has shown glimpses of an understanding with Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernández, his best form has been as the focal point of the attack. Who will occupy that role now?
In The Mirror, Gianluca Vialli has backed van Persie to give United the edge in this season’s title race after he completed his “massive” move to Old Trafford. The former Chelsea boss is quoted: “It is a massive signing. Van Persie and Rooney combining in the same team makes for a pretty exciting striking partnership. It will be a very important addition to an already very strong team.”
The same paper also claims Javier Hernandez could be in line for a shock transfer to Arsenal to help fill the void left by Van Persie. The tabloid believes the Mexican has grown disillusioned by a lack of first team opportunities and could seek a move before the summer transfer window closes.

EXCLUSIVE: Angelo Henriquez Interview on Manchester United
Angelo Henriquez has revealed in an exclusive interview with La Tercera
that he is indeed set to join United. "I am fulfilling a dream that I
have had for a long time and I will be able to realise it soon," he
said. "I will meet with Alex Ferguson on Wednesday and talk about what
he wants from me. I cannot waste this opportunity because it is
something I've wanted all my life." The Universidad de Chile striker
says his agent, Fernando Felicevich, will meet with the club to define
his immediate future - his ambition is to play for United's first team
but if it's decided he'll go out on loan first, he would prefer to go
back to Universidad de Chile on this basis. Neither club have yet
announced any deal.

Reports yesterday claimed that a deal worth £22million was about to be agreed between the two clubs and while that isn’t the case at present it is a scenario that cannot be ruled out given the prevalence of bonuses and add-ons in so many transfer these days.
Arsenal have an asking price of £20million should van Persie be sold to an overseas club, £25million for sale to a Premier League side. United are preparing an increased bid having already seen one of £15million rejected by Arsenal, but the bid may still be less than £20million.

Manchester United's Targets.
- The Daily Mirror believes Neil Taylor is a target for United as left-back cover for Patrice Evra. The Swansea defender appeared in the Olympics for Great Britain.
- Fernando Llorente is said to be the subject of a £30million transfer scrap between United and City, according to the Daily Express. Juventus are believed to be favourites to sign the Spaniard for a lower sum than that figure as he only has a year left on his contract, although both Manchester clubs are long rumoured to be admirers.
- The Daily Mail understands that Danny Welbeck is set to sign a five-year contract after being in negotiations over fresh terms for some time. One striker who has penned a deal is young Irishman Sam Byrne, the club revealed this morning.
- There is plenty of transfer talk surrounding United around again this morning after a slight lull recently. The Mirror says Sir Alex has made a personal plea to Arsene Wenger to resolve the Robin van Persie situation while The Sun reckons Arsenal are "caving in" and allowing their captain to join United for £22million.

Angelo Henriquez to United
La Tercera in Chile suggests Angelo Henriquez
has remained in Europe following his Under-20 international
commitments for a medical with United. The Reds' interest in the
Universidad de Chile striker is well documented and, after his exploits
at the Milk Cup, it's claimed the youngster could move a step closer
to moving to England. Despite the now obligatory talk of late rival
interest from City, which appeared to stem from the Daily Mirror, it's reported United are in pole position to snap up a long-term target.

Robin van Persie set to play in Arsenal friendly on Sunday as Man United move stalls
Robin van Persie is in line to play in Arsenal's friendly in Cologne tomorrow.
Dutch striker van Persie has been with the club's training camp in Germany this week and it is understood there have been no further developments about a potential move to Manchester United.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger does not want to sell to United, Sir Alex Ferguson has yet to come back with an improved offer and it means van Persie could yet start the season at the Emirates.
Van Persie is certainly in Arsenal's plans for the Cologne game and Wenger remains hopeful that they may be able to keep him, especially after splashing out big money on new signings Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla.
Wenger is believed to be impressed with van Persie's training and it means he could be involved in the build-up to the season.
Arsenal are standing firm and there is no sign of a breakthrough.
Van Persie's agent Kees Vos has reached stalemate with the club who are keeping a dignified silence over some of his tactics and also Sir Alex Ferguson going public with the fact that he wants the Arsenal captain.
Relations have been at breaking point with Dutch agent Vos ever since a statement was released by van Persie saying he would not sign a new contract at Arsenal.
Barcelona are also tracking Alex Song but Arsenal are in no rush to sell the Cameroon midfielder whose contract does not expire until 2015.
Now read John Cross on why it's become a point of principle for Arsene Wenger NOT to sell van Persie to Man United
And Ed Malyon on how Robin van Persie would fit in tactically at Manchester United.
Plus: remind yourself of all the twists and turns in the van Persie saga with our transfer timeline, and check out Steve Stammers' column on why Arsenal fans should remember Robin's model pro conduct since that infamous contract statement.

Moura was Very Close to Sign for United!!!!!
Lucas Moura's agent Wagner Ribeiro has revealed how close the winger came to signing for United. In an interview with UOL,
the Brazilian's representative: "Everything was agreed between Sao
Paulo and Manchester United. The contract had been written [and] just
needed to be signed. But then Leonardo called me and asked to talk to
Lucas. They talked and the possibility of living in Paris - a much more
pleasant city than Manchester - also influenced his decision. But it was
PSG's project that impressed Lucas."

SAF Interview on RVP
"I can't give you any more information," said the boss when asked
about van Persie after United's 0-0 draw with Barcelona. "We have made a
bid and they've been trying to negotiate with other clubs. We just have
to persevere. Hopefully it will come our way. We're trying our best but
there's no progress at this moment in time.
"I don't have a gut feeling on it at the moment, I must admit. We're not getting any breakthrough with Arsenal. It's difficult to say why they're operating this way. I don't know what their thoughts are because they're not giving anything away."
Regarding Lucas' move from Sao Paulo to Paris, it is further evidence that the cash-laden PSG mean business in the transfer market.
"I find it quite amazing that a club can pay €45million for a 19-year-old boy," Sir Alex continued. "To make a mark on everyone - to tell everyone that PSG are here - they've signed Thiago Silva from Milan and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"They must have spent about €150million in the last month. As you know, the only deterrent to that is UEFA. In the conditions of European football, you don't qualify for Europe by winning the league

Moura will join PSG
United held talks with Moura's club Sao Paulo but were unable to
agree terms, leaving big-spending PSG to become favourites to sign the
teenager after Inter Milan pulled out of the running.
Reports had also suggested Sir Alex Ferguson's side were not willing to meet the demands of Moura's agent and the midfielder has now admitted talks are underway with the Ligue 1 side.
Moura is expected to leave Sao Paulo in January in order to link up with compatriots Thiago Silva and Leonardo, the French club's sporting director.
The 19-year-old told Folha, "This is a good thing. 'll stay at Sao Paulo until the end of the year. Things are well underway."
He added to Globo Esporte: "No doubt that would be better because I can help Sao Paulo a bit more. I have always said I want to win a title before leaving and qualify for the Libertadores Cup.
"If it happens in January, I'll be able to do that for Sao Paulo.
"I'm focused on the national team. I can only say something after the Olympics. It's well underway, but not done.
"I talked to Thiago Silva and Leonardo, they said many good things about the club, the project they are implementing there."

RVP Close to join Manchester United
Manchester United might have missed out on teenage sensation Lucas Moura, who looks set to snub the Red Devils for a move to Paris St. Germain (per ESPN Soccernet), but according to latest reports, they are moving closer and closer to a deal with Arsenal striker Robin van Persie.
The Dutch international has been strongly linked to Old Trafford over the summer transfer window after deciding not to renew his contract at the Emirates when it expires at the end of the year. And according to The Manchester Evening News, United are in the pole position to land the striker.
In fact, they could even do it as early as tonight.

RVP Should Join United
Robin van Persie should pick Manchester United over Manchester City,
according to former Blues defender Danny Mills and ex-Red Devils star
Gary Pallister.
Both Manchester clubs and Juventus have placed bids to buy the Arsenal striker.
"Strikers get frustrated at City and I don't think Van Persie would be rotated as much at United," Pallister said.
Mills says United are better placed to challenge in Europe, but former City striker Rodney Marsh believes his old club is the place to win silverware.
Marsh told BBC Sport: "You have to look at the context of the contract that he will sign. It will be for four years and probably will be his last big deal and Sir Alex Ferguson is not going to be around that long.
"I think Manchester City are on the way to
the absolute top of football while Manchester United are on the way
down. City will be the team that will win the trophies in the next few
years.
"My own personal view is that Van Persie would go
straight into the starting line-up because his goal production last
season was sensational.
"Sergio Aguero is the star of the future in the Premier League, and I think he and Van Persie would be dynamite together."
Dutch striker Van Persie, 28, has a year left on his contract at Arsenal but said he does not plan to sign an extension.
He is now faced with a choice between Italian champions Juventus, Premier League champions City or a United side which lost the title by goal difference on the last day of the season.
It is understood Arsenal are reluctant to enter formal negotiations until a bid exceeds £20m and they are hopeful of holding out for £25-30m.
Despite City's growing credentials, Mills still regards United as a bigger force in Europe having reached the Champions League final twice in the last four seasons.
"Manchester United are still, in terms of club, bigger on a worldwide basis," Mills told BBC Sport. "Manchester City are still up and coming.
"In terms of challenging for the Champions League, if that's what Van Persie really wants, I think Manchester United would be the better option for him."
Both City and United went out at the group stages of the Champions League last season.
But Mills agrees with Pallister that the size of the Roberto Mancini's squad could count against Van Persie.
And Pallister feels that if Van Persie did choose the red half of Manchester, it would provide the team with the necessary boost after missing out on the title last season.
"Van Persie has proven he is top quality and I don't think he would have any problem establishing a lethal partnership with Wayne Rooney," said Pallister. "So if it's for footballing reasons, then I think Manchester United would be the ideal place for him.
"Whether it would make the difference [to them winning the title this season], I'm not sure. The goal difference was basically down to one game - the match at Old Trafford against City which cost them dearly, but it should never have gone that far.
"City were definitely better with the strength of their squad last year and it had such depth in it as well, that it gave them an advantage. That is something Ferguson has been and will be addressing."

Moura Confirmed That he will join PSG
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed his interest in landing the midfielder last month and he missed Sunday's friendly against Valerenga in order to try to push through a deal.
The Red Devils had appeared close to agreeing a fee with Sao Paulo for the 19-year-old, but big-spending PSG have now gazumped the Premier League club.
Reports had also suggested that United were unwilling to meet the demands of Moura's agent and that the player had been put off a move to Manchester.

United to Sign RVP
Manchester United To Sign Robin Van Persie This Week. As Manchester City & Juventus Both Pull Out.
Roberto Mancini has waved the white flag in the long-running battle to sign Arsenal's unhappy Dutchman Robin van Persie.
And with Juventus seemingly wobbling in their pursuit of the Gunnners' hitman - with a ban cloud hanging over their coach Antonio Conte - it looks like it's an open door for Manchester United.
Mancini has been hot in pursuit of Van Persie, but it looks like Sir Alex Ferguson has got in ahead of him. Fergie reportedly stayed in Britain while his team were in Norway in a bid to force through a £20million deal.
Mancini gave the clearest indication yet that City's interest in the prolific marksman has come to an end.
When asked about the situation regarding the Arsenal star, the City boss said: "Van Persie? No, I don't think he will come here."

Moura Will Join PSG
São Paulo's Lucas Moura is reportedly on the verge of of
joining French giants Paris Saint-Germain in a transfer deal worth more
than €38 million.
The 19-year-old has been heavily linked with a switch to Manchester United, while Inter Milan and Real Madrid were both considered keen on acquiring the attacking midfielder's services.
However, according to Globo Esporte, Paris Saint-Germain have managed to reach an agreement with São Paulo and Lucas is set to complete a move to Parc des Princes after Brazil's friendly against Sweden on August 15.
The Brazilian source claims that the highly-rated attacker will sign a five-year contract with PSG but it will not commence until January unless the Ligue 1 outfit can move on one of their non-EU players.
The development comes just a day after similar reports suggested that the player would sign for Manchester United.

United Close To Sign Moura
Manchester United are hoping to finally wrap up a deal for Sao Paulo midfielder Lucas Moura with the Daily Mail claiming that a delegation from Brazil will fly to Manchester for talks with United over the 19-year-old.
United had a delegation in Brazil last month discussing a 38million euro (£30million) bid but that was rejected by Sao Paulo amidst concerns at the Brazilian club that they would not be able to recruit a replacement with the Brazilian transfer window having closed last month.
Club director Joao Paulo de Jesus Lopes admits that further talks have taken place between the two clubs but he has denied reports from Italy that a deal has been done with Inter Milan which would see Lucas move for a maximum of 30million euro (£23million) – much less than has reportedly been offered by United.
“I do not know this information,” Lopes said of the Inter bid. “I was with Juvenal [Juvencio, club president] on Wednesday and Thursday. We just sat down to negotiate with Manchester, but we were not satisfied with the values.”
Meanwhile, Lucas’s agent, Wagner Ribeiro, is in the UK at present, as is the player’s family. Lucas was in action at Old Trafford in Brazil’s 3-1 victory over Belarus last weekend although he only came on for the last five minutes. He could be back there on Tuesday for the semi-final if Brazil defeat Honduras in their quarter-final clash at Newcastle today. However, Sao Paulo sports director Adalberto Baptista has dismissed speculation in Brazil that Manchester City have also joined the race for Lucas.

Man United to Spend Money
United prepare to spend againSir Alex Ferguson
could be about to spend up to a further £40million in the transfer
market this summer, according to Manchester United's chief operating
officer. Speaking in a 36-minute video presentation that is being shown
to investors on the club's global marketing roadshow ahead of a proposed
flotation on the New York Stock Exchange, Michael Bolingbroke has given
the firmest indication yet that there will be more significant spending
at Old Trafford before the close of the transfer window at the end of
this month. Bolingbroke told investors that while United believe their
average net spend of between £20m and £25m per year over the last 10 to
15 years was "sufficient going forward as a guide", the club was "giving
guidance at the moment that the current transfer period could result in
net expenditure nearer £40m".Although United have already paid down
about £15m to sign Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell from Borussia Dortmund
and Crewe Alexandra respectively, the club are on course to largely
offset that sum through sales, meaning more big-money arrivals are
anticipated.
Sahin Linked with United.
Marca reckons United have joined the chase to sign Real Madrid midfielder Nuri Sahin.
The Turk doesn't fit into Jose Mourinho's plans but the Spanish
champions will only a sanction a loan move. This interests Arsenal and
Spurs but Sir Alex would reportedly only countenance a permanent deal
for obvious reasons.
Rio hails Scholes influence
Scholes has featured in all three games and his presence in training will have benefitted the likes of Ryan Tunnicliffe, Davide Petrucci and new signing Nick Powell enormously.
The 37-year-old reversed his decision to retire in January and, having signed a new deal in May, he’ll continue to impart his experience on the side for at least another season.Ferdinand told DHLTour2012.com: "'Sat Nav' Scholes has it all – it's a great opportunity for the young players to learn from someone who has honed his craft for years and can still do it at the top level.
"To think he had a period out and can still come back and play is phenomenal. He's a shining light for all the players to look up to. Long may he continue playing!"
Sir Alex is also thrilled still to be able to count on the midfield maestro’s services, but knows he can’t go on for ever.
"A year ago, he was coaching my Reserves team," the Reds boss said. "Now he's back playing and everybody attached to United is absolutely delighted because he's such a fantastic player.
"In the long term, trying to replace Paul is a different issue all together. It's going to be very, very difficult. To replace a great player like that would be hard for anyone."

Anders Sign a New Deal At United
The Denmark international, 28, signed for the Reds in January 2011
after agreeing a deal the previous month. His debut arrived soon after,
in an FA Cup fourth round tie against Southampton at St Mary's.
Lindegaard has since played 13 times for United and looked sharp on each outing. A string of confident performances even helped him displace David De Gea from the number one spot in January 2012. But his status as Sir Alex's first choice was unfortunately brief; a knee injury sustained in training ended his season prematurely.
Fully fit again and, judging by his performances on the DHL Tour, in fine form, Lindegaard says he's delighted to put pen to paper on a new four-year deal.
"I'm very pleased to have signed a new contract," he said. "I'm glad and proud that the manager has shown the confidence he has in me by giving me a new deal.
"There is nowhere in the world I would rather be than right here. The competition for places is tough, as it should be in a club like this. It only makes us better as individuals and, more importantly, stronger as a team.
"It's what I have dreamt of all my life and nothing makes me more proud than wearing the Manchester United badge.”
Sir Alex acknowledged Lindegaard's development and admitted the Dane has the potential to pose him a
number of selection dilemmas in the forthcoming campaign.
"Anders is still relatively young for a goalkeeper but he has come on leaps and bounds since joining us last year," the manager said.
"There is healthy competition in the goalkeeping department, which is always good for the team, albeit a headache for me!
"I am delighted he has signed a new contract and also delighted to see that he has clearly returned from the summer break in good shape after the disappointment of suffering an injury last season.”

agent claiming that the Arsenal forward has already agreed a deal with
Juventus.
Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that a bid has been made for the Dutchman, but Manchester City and Juventus have also registered their interest. I think that Manchester City is out of the race to sign RVP and i think that Only United and Juventus is Left...

United Close in on Victor Wanyama
Manchester United are to send scouts to watch Celtic defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama
this evening. The SPL champions take on HJK Helsinki in a Champions
League qualifier at Parkhead and scouts from Old Trafford are expected
to be at the game.
United have had Wanyama watched in Celtic’s recent games with Norwich City and Inter Milan.
Wanyama is keen on a move to the Premier League after spending the end of last season playing in the back four instead of in his preferred role of defensive midfield.
Celtic signed Wanyama last summer from Belgian side Beerschot for £900,000 but after a successful first season in Scotland he is now valued at £7million.
Arsenal and QPR have also shown some interest in the Kenya international and the Gunners are expected to have a scout at tonight’s game.

Sao Paulo are ready to end Moura Talk
Sao Paulo are ready to end Manchester United’s pursuit of Lucas Moura by offering the Brazilian starlet a bumper new deal.
Sir Alex Ferguson is hoping to complete the signing of the 19-year-old midfielder before the start of the season.
But Sao Paulo have already rejected two bids for their prize asset and now hope to extend his current contract.
The Brazilian club’s director of football Adalberto Baptista said: "It's possible we change his contract.
"He has four more years of contract. We may call him to extend, renegotiate his contract, maybe for 18 more months.”
Moura’s complicated contract alters as of Wednesday, meaning he is entitled to 30 percent of any transfer fee if he leaves Sao Paulo.
United are understood to have already had a bid of £29m rejected.
