United put Suarez row aside for Anfield tribute
Every
Manchester United player will shake hands with Luis Suarez on Sunday.
Liverpool star Suarez served an eight-match ban for racially abusing
Patrice Evra last October — then caused uproar by refusing to shake the
United defender’s hand when the sides met in February. Sunday’s game
will be Liverpool’s first at Anfield since the publication of the
Hillsborough report, which cleared their fans of blame for the 1989
disaster which claimed 96 lives. A United insider revealed: “On a day
such as Sunday, which is bound to be full of all kinds of emotion, no
one wants anything to happen that will tarnish the match. Luis and
Patrice will shake hands just as every other player will shake hands.
They want to show unity between United and Liverpool. It is only proper
that the right example should come from players on the pitch.”
